Rival Wings Basics

This guide is intended to serve as a detailed reference for the basics of Rival Wings as a game mode and for the Hidden Gorge map in particular. (Astralagos has been "temporarily" unavailable for 4 years and counting…) The first part of this guide describes the various pieces unique to RW as a game mode and the layout of the Hidden Gorge map. The second part of this guide explains strategy fundamentals intended to serve as a foundation for in-game decision making.

This guide is written assuming readers have a basic understanding of FFXIV PvP and the skills/strategies related to their preferred job. It will also not cover specific game situations or tactics involving specific jobs or mechs. Job specifics for RW are not significantly different from other PvP modes can be found in more general job guides.
